2017-2019 Charitable Fund Project

Professional Dimensions is proud to support Pathfinders' New Paths program as our 2017-2019 Charitable Fund Project

The mission of Pathfinders is "Empowering Youth, Changing Lives".  For almost 50 years, Pathfinders has been bringing safety, hope and healing to low-income youth and young adults dealing with homelessness, sex trafficking, sexual abuse, family problems, and mental health issues. Pathfinders’ innovative and highly effective services reach more than 6,000 young people and their families each year.  It is the only organization uniquely positioned to reach runaway and homeless youth who have experienced family conflict or rejection.

The Pathfinders New Paths Program is an emerging, multi-disciplinary and cross-community initiative to raise awareness of sexual exploitation and trafficking, and enhance the ability of the Milwaukee community to help those who have been victimized.

The New Paths Program Objectives:

  • provide targeted and enhanced services to young people (predominantly women and girls) who have experienced sexual trafficking/exploitation
  •  inform community awareness, response and victim identification through the perspectives of positive youth development and trauma informed care

Professional Dimensions' Role:

PD members will use their skills to play a critical role in four focus areas of engagement:

  • building public awareness
  • empowering clients through employment readiness training and other activities
  • improving organizational effectiveness
  • financial support and fundraising assistance

With the support of Professional Dimensions, the New Paths Program aims to work with 280 youth, over two years, who have experienced trafficking, most of whom are female. The program will:

  • provide crisis counseling that responds to their immediate and unique emotional and physical needs

  • assist youth who have been trafficked to stabilize their lives as they exit their situation or contemplate leaving their situation

  • help youth employ safety strategies to decrease incidents of exploitation/re-abuse

  • provide ongoing mental health services that will help heal the trauma of being exploited

  • coordinate specialized and individualized needed services
