Joining Professional Dimensions

Membership is by invitation and focuses on "women who inspire” through their personal and professional experience and talents.
Current members may "sponsor" someone for membership by filling out a
nomination form. Once the sponsorship form is submitted, candidates accepted by the Recruitment Committee will advance for approval by the Board of Directors. Once approved by the Board, members will be invited to apply.

If you are interested in joining PD and in need of a sponsor, please complete this form to be connected with our recruitment team and office. You can also review a list of active members here to identify potential sponsors.

New member orientations are held several times each year, to introduce new members to the Board and to other new members. At these orientations, Professional Dimensions’ history and committees are described and new members are encouraged to get involved. Serving on committees is the best way to meet other members and benefit from the organization.

The Recruitment Committee strives to strengthen the diversity and leadership of the organization and to maintain a broad spectrum of occupations. Target populations include non-traditional or under-represented occupations, executives in a company or organization, women of color, younger women with leadership promise, and other community leaders.

Prospective members should meet the following criteria:

  • Employed professionals living and working in the greater Milwaukee area

  • Women who believe that we are better when we work together, promoting and striving for inclusion in all we do

  • Individuals with a desire to embrace and develop within the PD tenets of Leadership, Networking, Community and Diversity

Professional Dimensions offers its members many opportunities to connect with each other and the community for personal and professional growth:

  • Member meetings, held twice a month featuring speakers and networking activities
  • Board and committee participation
  • Several special interest groups (SIGs)
  • Involvement in Charitable Fund projects
  • Friendships and professional relationships

  • Payment of annual dues. New members are responsible for a one-time initiation fee when joining the organization.
  • Attendance at membership meetings when scheduling allows (there is no minimum meeting attendance requirement). Members are responsible for the cost of the meal of any meeting they attend.
  • Support of the current Charitable Fund project through monetary and/or volunteer support, within your ability to give time, talent and treasure.

Once invited, you will be sent a link to complete your application and payment that looks like this:

My mom has raised me to believe that I am a strong, powerful woman. Two years ago, she introduced me to the world of PD- a sisterhood of women who are powerful beyond belief. Since then, I have attended events that praise the successes PD members have achieved and events intended to reach a hand back to those who are in the early stages of their careers. There's a place for everyone at PD, and I have felt welcomed from day one.

I have sincerely enjoyed attending PD events alongside my favorite person and I would encourage anyone who is thinking about inviting a relative to join to do so!

I am usually skeptical of organizations that promote networking and professional connections. My experience with networking groups in the past haven’t been fulfilling and interactions always felt forced. I found that I crave authenticity, learning opportunities, and meaningful connections that will help me grow and expand my understanding of the community around me. I jokingly tell people that I was tricked into joining Professional Dimensions, but I am so glad it happened. After recognizing my need for authentic connections and growth opportunities, my friend and Professional Dimensions member, Emily Phillips, suggested I join a Conversation Circle to experience the organization without becoming a member immediately. Conversation Circles are part of the Professional Dimensions Race Relations Initiative and are focused on engaging participants in discussions about race and racism.

Over the course of the program I met a number of intelligent and admirable women with fantastic stories to tell. We were all different in the traditional sense as well as in our styles, interpretations and life experiences - but that’s what made the experience so rich. Regardless of our differences, we realized that we were all focused on the common goal of  “what can we do to influence positive change?” I felt like I had found the type of community that I had been seeking. I realized that this small circle of women represented a sample size of the broader PD organization. My instinct said that if I was so powerfully impacted by this small group, how terrific would it be to have access to so many more women just like this in the community? I ultimately decided to apply for membership.

In the short time that I have been a member, I have found the personal and professional development opportunities to be extremely valuable. Above and beyond the member experience, I recognized early on that PD members have a high sense of accountability and loyalty to the mission, which is something I greatly respect. I view Professional Dimensions as much more than a professional networking group, it is a safe place to go for support, to have fun, to share knowledge, to be inspired, to work through a challenge, to find a friend, and to be a part of something bigger.

In a time when all women must commit to lifting up and advocating for other women, PD is a source of empowerment! I am so grateful to be a part of this special organization.
