"There are a few workshops one goes through in your career or life that really stick with you…memories of intimate stories shared that change how you see individuals and your community.

Conversation Circles was that for me. I gained insights and made friendships that last until this day. It’s one of the unique and profound offerings PD has for you. I hope you have the chance to participate."

-Janet Slater, Member Since 1990
________

"Participating in the Conversation Circles fundamentally changed me. It opened my eyes to the painful truths I had been sheltered from — the realities of redlining, systemic injustice, and how privilege silently shapes opportunity. I laughed, cried, listened, and wrestled with hard truths. It awakened in me not pity, but a deeper empathy — and a stronger voice to challenge the stereotypes and indignities that people of color continue to endure. I now see people differently — with presence, with acknowledgment, with intent. I only wish I had learned these things sooner."

-Maddy Tarbox, Member Since 2008

Conversation Circles: A Bold Commitment to Racial Equity and Deep Connection

Since 2009, Professional Dimensions has hosted Conversation Circles—an initiative born out of courage, trust, and the unwavering belief that women could lead the way in dismantling racism. Launched during a time of heightened racial tension, these circles were a bold act of solidarity: bringing together women of color and white women to engage in raw, necessary, and often uncomfortable dialogue about race, privilege, and systemic injustice.

What began as small gatherings in members’ homes—rotating hosts, sharing meals, and confronting truth—quickly became a sacred space where lifelong friendships were forged. These were not casual conversations; they were intentional, intimate, and deeply transformative. Women showed up authentically, held space for one another, and left each session changed.

This program continues as a space for connection and courageous learning. Participants are expected to:

- Show up with authenticity and openness

- Commit to attending all 5 sessions

- Engage in light pre-work (short videos and/or readings)

- Practice mutual respect while navigating challenging topics

As a women’s organization rooted in collective leadership, we honor the legacy of women who have shown up for one another throughout history. We believe women are uniquely equipped to carry this equity work forward—with honesty, empathy, and action.

Our next Circle will launch July 8th, you can sign up here>>
